WHAT IS "BOUGHT IN"?
AND WHY "FOR THE WIN"?

Success is science and I'm willing to share the secret formula.

MY STORY

I have always been fascinated with human psychology and love analyzing problems and finding solutions. To that end, I've been told I have a gift for bringing out the very best in others. This is probably why I have been a successful parent, teacher, coach and life mentor. It has taken a few years and some serious "existential thinking time" to believe it myself, but if enough people tell you something and enough people show you what you're doing, you have to believe it. I suppose if you're a relentless perfectionist who refuses to accept anything less than the best from others then that means something to people – I was just being me.

I’ve been a parent since I was 17 years old, so I guess my teaching career started there, but I didn’t have a damn clue what I was doing. I spent the formative years of my 20's raising a family and periodically traversing the world as a United States Marine, spending time in Latin America and the Middle East. My last tour was as a formal instructor which is where I found out I had a knack for teaching. Truth is though, I had been teaching all along as parent and in Latin America and in the Middle East and everywhere I went.

After I decided to close the Marine Corps chapter of my life, I moved on to teaching high school Spanish and coaching football. Those five years is where this all really began to take shape. I'm not going to pat my own back; I'll let the testimonials page speak for me, but apparently, I was good at this. I was regularly told by students, faculty and parents that I should be a life coach. I told them I wasn't interested – LOL! While I enjoyed coaching and teaching very much and found it super rewarding, I wasn’t happy. It wasn’t enough for me. I was constrained by the system and quite frankly I needed more. I knew I could do more.

A student who knew I had always wanted to be a doctor once asked me “If you could stand in front of this class and preach all this about success and positive mentality and accomplishing your dreams, then why aren’t you doing it for yourself?” I lied to her face and myself when I said, “because my goals have changed”. While I knew I was making a difference in the world and had done so my entire adult life, I also knew I had “SOULed” out. I wasn’t living up to my own expectations. I wasn’t “BOUGHT IN” to getting the most out of myself. I was not successful by my own definition because I was not actualizing my potential.

While at home recovering from neck surgery in 2018, I had too much time to myself, became depressed and angry with what I had become. What that student said to me wouldn’t go away. I was either a liar, poser or both and I struggled with that fact for awhile. Thanks to a few instances of divine intervention, I channeled my anger positively (mostly) and decided to fight back, but it wasn’t easy. Long story short, I needed a change of environment and I walked away from teaching to take a security job at Disney World. I landed exactly where I needed to be and was able to spend enough time alone with myself, in a positive environment, to be able to figure out where I was supposed to be. I can honestly and clichédly say – I built my dream on park bench in front of Magic Kingdom. With the full support of my family, I quit Disney, went back to teaching and I am actively pursuing my doctoral dreams. My end state is to own my own clinic/center for whole life wellness focused on Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, and Social Wellness through a positive growth mentality and psychological resilience program. My goal is to teach as many people as possible how to get the very best out of themselves and create generational change in the way we see and treat ourselves. Whatever your best is, I want that for you and nothing less.

MY PURPOSE

My goal is to teach as many people as possible how to get the very best out of themselves and create generational change in the way we see and treat ourselves. Whatever your best is, I want that for you and nothing less.

The content of this website is the foundation for the principles I will build my program around. Its more than solutions, it’s a lifestyle that enables you to intentionally accomplish whatever you want, over and over again and find happiness in what you create. It doesn’t matter if you want to lose 10 pounds, go back to school, start a new career, rebuild your marriage, beat depression, or anything else the idea is that you can do it because there is ALWAYS A WAY.

Much of what you will hear and see on this site is attributable to Marine Corps doctrine, Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and 4 Roles of Leadership, the “7 Mindsets” socio-emotional learning program and, most importantly, the life lessons learned through my own unique experiences. The content, like us as people, will always be evolving, learning, and growing. The more knowledge we have, the more options we have for possible solutions, the more answers we can generate, the more successes we have, better our lives are - individually and collectively.

RULES FOR LIFE SUCCESS

These rules are things I have witnessed, experienced, or been told my my own life mentor's over the years. I tried to attribute them as best my memory allowed, but many I made up on my own. I have personally tested every single one of them over an extended period of time to verify it as a RULE. The list is ever growing and I am certainly open to debate and discussion over the veracity of the rules. Please feel free to incorporate them into your life in any fashion that improves your well-being.
